Laparoscopic Incisional Hernia Repair

An incisional hernia is a condition in which a piece of abdominal organ, such as the intestine, protrudes through an opening at or near the site of a prior surgical incision.

Once any incision is made through the abdominal wall, that area is always weaker, making it prone to hernia formation. Incisional hernias may cause a bulge or pain and can develop at any time after the original surgery.

Laparoscopic Incisional Hernia Repair is a new technique to fix tears in the abdominal wall (muscle) using small incisions, telescopes and a patch (mesh). This minimally invasive technique allows the patient to return to work and normal activities sooner.
